IRIS 5.0

Within VibSpec the program IRIS (Infrared and Raman Interpretation Support) is developed. Many people ask the question "how to interpret an IR spectrum?". The IRIS system is intended to assist and alleviate the complex process of interpreting Infrared and Raman spectra and is not a search program. The general aim of the program is to provide rapid and simple access to

- Correlation tables, wavenumber regions of functional groups
- Typical spectra, with reference to characteristic features
- Terms, commonly used in IR and Raman spectroscopy
- The effects of molecular interactions
- Trends in homologues series (examples)
- Various types of vibrations
- Spectrum import and functional group suggestion
- Relative intensities of peaks of functional groups
- Details of CH stretching patterns available for comparison

Access to information as regards functional groups can be gained by name as well as by structure. IRIS can be of great use for educational purposes at Universities and analytical departments in industry.

The new, restyled and significantly improved version 5.0 is now available for download and is compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 10 (administration rights required).
